The sandbag house is both ecological and economic as it is built of almost only regular sand and the cost of building it is almost only the cost of labor. In the end we practically only invested our time as we did all the work ourselves.
The sandbag house is a sustainable choice of building that's not only ecological and economic but also durable and has very good thermal capacity, protecting against the cold when it's winter and keeps it fresh inside on hot summer days.
We worked on the project during 4 weeks in May-June 2014 before we had to go back to work and school again, during that time we've almost finished our first small prototype house we've made to get the hang of the technique. Still missing are the doors, windows and the roof. Until later we've put a temporary simple roof of thin metal sheet.
The plan is to build a larger, more sophisticated sandbag house when we've finished the prototype.
Check out the progress and follow us as we continue with this cool project!
